Update from Pastor Brad
Thank you so much for connecting with us online during the past several weeks! Great things have continued to happen while we’ve done everything we can to Seek God, Plant Seeds and Send Workers. You have stepped up in amazing ways to help us Love our Community during this time!
Last Friday, Governor Holcomb gave an update related to the reopening of Indiana and in that statement, he spoke to places of worship. In doing so, he stressed the need to continue the practices of social distancing and establish health and safety protocols to minimize the spread of the virus. I want to get back together in person as much as anyone, but only as soon as it is safe to do so. The truth is, it is very difficult for us to gather physically as a church together while maintaining social distancing.
One of the questions we’re asking right now is, “When will it be safe for the children to meet?” It would be hard enough for us as adults to put in place the requested social distancing practices, how do you ask children to do that? For the Month of May, we are going to continue to meet online, as we have been doing since the beginning of this crisis. On June 1st we will give you another update on our next steps.
As I reflected on the request of our Government leaders, I in no way feel our religious freedoms are being restricted. In fact, they’ve actually gone overboard to say that they do not want to impede us at all. But they are asking us to do our part. One of the things we say around Harvest is that we are to “Love our Community.” The question is: How best can we do that right now? In consultation with the leadership of Harvest, we believe the best way we can love our community right now is to continue serving by being hope-filled workers, to do everything we can to help keep people safe, and to allow everyone to get back to work and life. So, for May, we will see you online!
